August in Northern California . . .

. . . beats August in Northern Virginia any day! When it’s 100 degrees both places, it’s cooler in California. It’s a dry heat, they say around here. “Around here” meaning the Sacramento-San Joaquin Valley [the "Great Valley" or Central Valley]. More about that later.

Discovered a fun blog to visit. Christopher Dunham writes The Genealogue. I recommend it for its wry humor and quirky info.

Sanford’s Summer Vacation

California, Here I Come

It being August, time for us Washington types to get outta town. It’s way too hot for Government work, so everybody who’s ancillary to Uncle Sam heads for the hills . . . and the beaches . . . and the valleys . . . and, well, you get the idea.

I’m headed for California where a good portion of my extended family resides. May do some genealogical work and definitely will take it easy. I’ll try to keep the blog as current as possible, so don’t go away, unless you’re getting outta town, too.

From August 29-31, we’ll be in St Louis, Missouri, then back to Northern Virginia.
