A few days ago, a young man commented on a blog post I had written sometime last year.  He noted that the man referred to in that post as my father’s cousin was the young man’s grandfather.  I soon heard from the young man’s brother, followed in turn by their mother.  We’ve had a lively email exchange of information; confirming and debunking various stories and generally learning from each other. . . . It’s been great!

Around the same time, I heard from a man in Georgia who bears one of the surnames I’m researching.  His family was based in Mississippi.  He wanted to know if I had or could establish a link between his family in Mississippi and mine in Louisiana.  I went back over some old research I have and found a Biloxi, Mississippi, obituary.  Turns out the deceased was this man’s father!  Now I’ve just been catapulted years ahead in researching this particular family.
